The market capitalisation, on Thursday, added N46 billion to the market’s worth as it was estimated at N14.669 trillion as against N14.623 trillion from the previous session.
The market breadth tightened with 21 gainers to 22 losers, with Dangote Cement leading the former while GlaxoSmithKline leads the latter.
Specifically, in value terms, Dangote Cement Plc led the gainer’s chart having appreciated by 1.6 percent, having added four nairas to each share value to close at N255, while Ecobank Transnational Incorporation added 65 kobo to each share, closing at N17.
On the other hand, GlaxoSmithKline lost N3.35 kobo from each of its shares to close at N31.50 kobo, while International Breweries followed closely, having depreciated it’s stock value by N2.70 kobo to end trades at N51.70 kobo.
Sectorial indices all advanced in performance aside for NSE Consumer and Goods.
Market performance statistics on the exclusive basis of the day’s trading session showed a total of 495 million as against previous close of 401 million units amounting to 23.47 percent upbeat in volume and value also increased by 13.85 percent from N6.77 billion to N7.67 billion today.
At the ending of trading session on Thursday, United Bank for Africa Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc and FBN Holdings top performers in terms of volume while Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, United Bank Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Nestlé Nigerian Plc and Access Bank Plc made up the top five performers in terms of the value of units traded.
Overall, gains in the local bourse for the day can be attributed to high cap stocks in the industrial sector.
