A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former member representing Dunukofia Constituency at the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu, has called on the newly inaugurated members of the State 8th Assembly to operate an open-door policy to all regardless of party placement.
The former lawmaker appreciated the new members for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during their proclamation and inauguration, noting that it was an indication that the State was peopled by those who know how to resolve their differences amicably.
Ezeudu, popularly called Cheleku, stated this on Sunday while speaking at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving service held in his honour at the St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State.
Ezeudu, who highlighted his political sojourn in the State and Nigeria, said his constituents benefits from all sector of social-economic existence.
He said he had been able to solve many political challenges confronting the people of his constituency during his eight years of representation.
According to him, “My representation then was not for any material gain, but to serve my people. I listen to them anytime and any day. I unite my people politically. I was able to settle leadership crises in all the communities that formed the Constituency. It is a great feat.”
Ezeudu added; “Let me assure my people that my successor, Hon. Francis Chuks’s representation in the 8th State Assembly, will be a qualitative and uncommon one.
“I want to sincerely appreciate the people of Dunukofia Constituency, for this high level of support and for reposing such confidence in me during my reign.”
He also appreciated the media for their cooperation and collaboration in projecting his legislative activities in the past eight years.
In his sermon at the Interdenominational Service, the presiding Priest of St. Martin’s Catholic Church Ifitedunu, Rev. Father Raphael Agbanu, while lamenting that there is poverty in the land, called on the past, present lawmakers and other political stakeholders in the country, to join hands with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Chukwuma Soludo, so that the people at the grassroots will feel the positive impact of government.
He said the government at both federal and state levels should work on policies and programmes that would alleviate suffering of the masses and improve their welfare.
