THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger Command on Wednesday said it would deploy 2,550 personnel across the state for the upcoming general elections.
The state commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
Ayuba said that already operational orders had been issued to Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the state’s 25 Local Government Areas to ensure credible conduct of the elections.
He said that officers along with other security agencies would provide a peaceful atmosphere for the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

“We have deployed sufficient personnel after identifying black spots in and outside the metropolis against any potential security threat,” he said.
The commandant said the deployment of security personnel was to ensure peaceful elections, adding that various security checks were in place to deal with unforeseen circumstances during and after the election.
Ayuba tasked the corps to demonstrate professionalism, transparent and shun all forms of inducement.
“As security agents, we all have a duty to ensure a level playing field for all political actors,” he concluded.
