Ekiti guber: Emmanuel Fayose seeks ADC ticket, rallies support

Ahead of Thursday’s governorship primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, an aspirant, Emmanuel Fayose, has appealed to party leaders and members to rally behind him in becoming the candidate of the party for the next year’s election.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC fixed November 6, 2025, for the governorship primaries to select the party’s candidate for the June 20, 2026.

Emmanuel, who is the younger brother of a former governor, Ayodele Fayose, made this appeal on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, which had in attendance party leaders, executives and members from across the 177 wards and 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

Addressing the crowd, Fayose expressed optimism that the ADC will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2026 poll, citing the support of the people towards the coalition platform.

He said, “I organised this meeting to bring our party men and women together under one umbrella and, most importantly, to tell you that I need your support to secure the party’s ticket in our upcoming governorship primary election.

“I can assure you that we are going to defeat the incumbent government, and this is achievable because the current administration in the state has performed below average. The people, especially the electorate, are behind us. The people are ready for a change. They are tired of the current government of the APC.

“The African Democratic Congress is going to form the next government of Ekiti because the people of the state are tired of the ruling APC. We are not afraid of going into next year’s election. ADC does not need any external interference from any quarter. All we are asking for is a level playing field in the state.”

Fayose, who described the turnout as impressive, said it has set an optimistic tone for the ADC in the forthcoming governorship election and the future of Ekiti.

“This turnout is overwhelming. It is a defining moment for the ADC and for the future of Ekiti State. This campaign is anchored on integrity, inclusion and a renewed vision for development,” he said.

In his remarks, the aspirant’s Media Director, Wasiu Adejumo, said, “The meeting was convened to strengthen the relationship between the aspirant and the party’s internal structure ahead of the ADC governorship primary election scheduled for November 6. “

Leaders of the Ekiti ADC, including the State’s Deputy Chairman, Hon. Dare Adekolu, State’s Publicity Secretary, and former Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan and other executives of the party commended Fayose for engaging directly with the party members.

The leaders who said that Fayose’s gesture of respect and unity would not be forgotten described him as “a courageous and people-focused leader who values the strength of the grassroots.”

They assured him of a transparent and credible primary process and promised to support whoever wins the party ticket.
