Edo State Government has secured a strategic partnership with United States-based investors to establish an electric mobility manufacturing and assembly plant for electric tricycles, in a move aimed at accelerating industrialisation, creating employment opportunities and promoting clean transportation.
The State Commissioner for Power, Hon. Paul Usenbo, who disclosed this in an interview yesterday, said the project is being driven through a partnership involving United States-based MOSERI Holding Limited, JBV Manufacturing, and a tricycle manufacturing company.
According to him, the collaboration will lead to the establishment of an e-mobility company in Edo State for the manufacturing and assembly of electric tricycles for the Nigerian market, positioning the state as a hub for clean energy technology, innovation and vehicle production.

Usenbo explained that the initiative is in line with the economic agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo to attract strategic investments, deepen industrialisation and create sustainable employment through renewable energy and technology-driven manufacturing.
He noted that local production of electric tricycles would reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported vehicles, strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity and support the expansion of the country’s electric vehicle value chain.
The commissioner added that the project would lower production and logistics costs, making electric tricycles more affordable for consumers while generating direct and indirect employment opportunities in vehicle assembly, maintenance, technical support, spare parts distribution and after-sales services.
He said, “The advantage of this initiative is that electric tricycles will become more affordable for our people. More importantly, Edo residents will benefit from employment in assembly, maintenance, after-sales services, and warranty support, creating a sustainable value chain for the state’s economy.”
Usenbo further disclosed that the investment forms part of ongoing reforms by the Ministry of Power to attract greater private sector participation in the energy sector, diversify the state’s economy, and encourage environmentally sustainable transportation.
He added that the state government was engaging international investors across the power and renewable energy value chain, describing the electric mobility project as one of several strategic initiatives designed to position Edo as a preferred destination for technology-driven manufacturing and clean energy investments.
The commissioner expressed confidence that the project would enhance local industrial capacity, facilitate technology transfer, strengthen workforce skills, stimulate economic growth and reinforce Edo State’s position as a leading destination for electric mobility and renewable energy investments in Nigeria.
