Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru has commended the retired Commissioner of Police in the state, Sunday Olaleye for arresting the killers of an INEC official and rescuing the victim’s wife alive as they were returning from Abia State.
He also commended the retired CP, for his efforts to tackle crime and other related issues in the State within the short period he stayed in the State.
Governor Nwifuru disclosed this during the State Dinner in honour of the retired commissioner of police, Ebonyi State Command CP. Faleye E. S Olaleye at Banquet Hall, Old Government House, Abakaliki.
Falaye, who came to Ebonyi State a night before the general election, retired on Thursday and was honoured at the weekend by the State Government.
Governor Nwifuru described the retired CP as an intelligent police officer whose intelligence in the force led to the success recorded in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
Nwifuru also thanked the retired CP for the arrest of sit-at-home enforcers who terrorized some parts of the state last week and destroyed properties worth millions of naira in different locations.
“I told CP, no matter what it will take for the state to get this person arrested, I am interested. He told me to give him 48 hours. After 48 hours, I didn’t get the result and he told me that the result will come in a very comprehensive manner.
“The kidnapped woman was released in the night. In the morning by 12 o’clock, I got the result. All those that participated in that heinous crime were arrested. All of them have been arrested and they must face the law”, he said.
He then urged the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Tina Ogbodo to also secure the state like her predecessor, Olaleye and assured her of the government’s continued support to security agents in the fight against crime in the state.
