The newly installed Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari), Da-Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, Dabaye Amakiri I, has issued a stern warning to kidnappers, land grabbers, oil bunkerers, drug dealers, and sea pirates operating in the waters around Elem Kalabari. He told them to pack up and leave or face his wrath.
Speaking to residents of Elem Kalabari and surrounding communities who came to welcome him on New Year’s Day 2025, following the Ekine Sekiapu traditional rites, King Dokubo-Asari said, “Illegal oil bunkering destroys the environment and pollutes the waters, which directly impacts the livelihood of our people, particularly our fishermen.”
“If you know anyone involved in oil bunkering here, whether a friend or relative, no matter how highly placed they are, tell them I said enough is enough. They must pack up and leave. Otherwise, we will catch them, deal with them, and hand them over to the government. We will no longer tolerate such activities in this kingdom.”
He also addressed drug dealers, sea pirates, and kidnappers who have been wreaking havoc in Elem Kalabari and neighboring communities. “Illicit drugs destroy the minds of their users, making them useless to themselves and society. Those involved in such activities will no longer be tolerated here. They must leave immediately.”

“I am also warning kidnappers and sea pirates who harass people on our waters while they are going about their legitimate business. Our men will now patrol these waters to provide security for lives and property. Any sea pirate or kidnapper caught will be dealt with accordingly. Again, if you know anyone involved in such activities, tell them I said it’s time to pack up and go.”
The monarch also revealed that massive dredging and reclamation projects will soon begin in Elem Kalabari. He announced that 150 workers will be mobilized to the area starting January 2, 2025, to begin clearing the bush and cleaning the area, preparing it for dredging and sand filling in the coming weeks.
“You won’t recognize this place in two months,” he said. “All I ask of you is your cooperation and prayers. Organize yourselves, be united, and live in peace and harmony.”
“Whatever is due to you will be given to you. The era of people relying on stipends from companies in the area is over. You will now receive what is rightfully yours. And to the women who want their children to go to school, scholarships will be provided for your children,” Asari assured.
