Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, have declared their unalloyed support for the governorship ambition of former Minister of State for Education, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
They insisted that no other local government in Delta Central Senatorial district, but Ughelli South, will produce the next governor in 2023 and therefore pledged to work with Gbagi to secure his emergence in the upcoming PDP primaries.
The support was reiterated during a meeting of PDP executives at the ward and local government level as well as other stakeholders at the Orogun country home of the industrialist and criminologist in Ughelli South.
The leaders commended the PDP founding member in the state for creating a forum to enable them deliberately on grievances and how Ughelli South aspirants will come together for the 2023 governorship race.
PDP Ughelli South Effurotor Ward chairman, Comrade Ivwromomena commended Gbagi for his leadership roles.
”We are left out, the leaders don’t care about us till election periods; the issue is that those in the apex level of the party do not have any regular meeting,” he lamented.
On his part, Comrade Omogosibo Benjamin, who’s the PDP Ughelli South Ward 10 chairman, said Gbagi was the first aspirant to bring party faithful together in Ughelli South.
According to him, Gbagi has done a lot and must be supported, just as he appealed to the entrepreneur to pardon all who have spoken evil about him in ignorance.
Others leaders, who spoke, included Rt Hon. Precious Ejenake, Ward Chairman, Ewu Ward 1, Ughelli South, Dave Gbigidi, youth leader Ewu Ward 3, Ochuko Omorere, Secretary Effruntor Ward and Comrade Daniel Etaga, Secretary Ward 1 Ewu in Ughellli South, urging Gbagi to unite all leaders in the local government.
Responding, Chief Gbagi commended all the party faithful and urged them to continue to support Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the party.
He affirmed that he has no enemies and is ready to extend his hands of fellowship to other aspirants, but added that the party is supreme and loyalty is key, being some of the factors that’ll make him assume governorship come 2023.
