A total of 25 Journalists from across the states of the North East subregion have been trained on tips on multimedia operations in order to enhance their productivity in reporting.
The three-day capacity training which was held in Yola was facilitated by the Daily Trust Foundation in conjunction with MacArthur Foundation on investigative and Multimedia journalism intended to abreast Journalists on the new trends in social media writing and reporting.
Programme Director, Daily Trust Foundation, Dr Theophilus Abbah in his opening address, said that the 25 participants were selected from the six states in the zone to broaden their knowledge on multimedia journalism.
He explained that with the emergence of the Internet and social media, the entire world has become a global village with people seeing and listening to happenings in the comfort of their abodes.
He noted that the dynamics of journalism in the internet world is facing out the old ways of handling stories, stressing that journalists now use their mobile devices to send their stories immediately.
Theophilus Abbah urged the participants to make the training interactive and most importantly attentive and ask relevant questions.
The Director added that the training will equip and encourage journalists on human interest stories as well as fact-checking before stories are published.
One of the participants, Susan Edeh, from the Daily Independent Newspaper in Bauchi State, described the training as timely and inspirational, considering the way negative stories flies on social media.
She appreciated the opportunity accorded to her to partake in the training saying, “I am thrilled, l appreciate these Foundations for this workshop.”
