Cultism: Nine students cooling off in police custody ― Ebonyi CP

Following a war between two secret cults groups over supremacy which has caused so many lives, injuries and fear in Ebonyi state, the State Police Command has arrested no fewer than nine students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) alleged to be behind the mayhem.
The police command made the arrest when they raided the four campuses of the university and arrested some students in connection to the cult activities in the school.
Speaking to journalists during the decoration of newly promoted officers in the state, the Commissioner of Police CP Awosola Awotinde, said there have been cult clashes in the university and the Ohaukwu local Government since last one week, with two rival groups battling for supremacy.

According to the commissioner, who noted that some persons have been killed as a result of the clashes, also said that the policemen attached to the state command was not spared also, as the  suspected cultists also clashed with  them and made away with a police security van  attached to the men on duty along the Ishieke campus road axis and took them to the university where it was recovered by the policemen .

The CP also noted that a policeman who was moving along the road with his heavily pregnant woman, was shot in the stomach by the said suspected cultists and he is in a critical condition in the hospital.
“Cultism is giving us a lot of problems here. The cult groups were going for burial in their red insignia, they had an encounter with our patrol team stationed at the junction. They opened fire and our men responded, nine of them were arrested.
“They have been charged to court. We are supposed to even parade them but they have been charged to court and remanded in prison,” he narrated.
