Giving a talk on The role of the Ministers in these last days, at the 2018 national convention of the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN), he said returning the church to her first love was the duty of every clergyman.
He said the 21st century church had lots of money, good administration, great infrastructure, dynamic communicators serving as pastors, radio and television stations, universities and Bible schools, more so that the church would not say with Paul and Silas, Silver and gold we have not.
He noted that the could neither say with them, In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk, because it does not have God and lacks power.
“The early Church loved the person of Jesus Christ while the 21st century church loves breakthrough, success, prosperity, miracle and healing,” he added.
He said like the early church, the 21st century church should be preoccupied with the fact that “the Son of God is formed in every individual member of the Church.”
He also noted that clergymen should take up the theme of the Centenary celebration of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, The Imminence of His Coming and boldly tell the power brokers in the nation about the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Similarly, Pastor N.O. Akinwale, the LAWNA Missionary Secretary, urged clergies to make Luke 18: 8 – “When the Son of Man comes, shall he find faith on earth?” the Church’s driving force.
Speaking on the theme, The end time Ministers’ leadership role in the Church – Evangelism and Discipleship, Pastor Akinwale advised clergies to be credible and always stand for the truth.
He noted that passion for materialism had replaced passion for soul-winning, making the church diminishing and souls perishing by the day.
He, admonished that the little foxes destroying the vine be identified, dealt with and destroyed.
He enjoined that the youth and the Holy Spirit be involved in evangelism and discipleship, while the contemporary church should be willing to go on missionary journeys as that is God’s command.
While emphasising training in order to have sound Christians, Pastor Akinwale said clergies should live what they preached.
The convention, which took place at The Apostolic Church Nigeria (TACN), Lawna International Convention Grounds, Ketu, Lagos from September 7 to 8, was declared opened by the CPFN national president and president, CAC Worldwide, Pastor Abraham Akinosun.
Pastor Akinosun, in his welcome address, called the clergies to see their services as being rendered to God and not for any self-glory because whoever exalts himself would be humbled and whoever humbled himself would be exalted (Matthew 23:12).
Speaking on the central theme, God of our Fathers, the president noted that these fathers brought down the mighty hands of God and conquered kingdoms for Christ.
He listed the fathers to include Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, Pastor D. Orekoya, Pastor D.O. Babajide, Prophet S.O. Akande, Miss Sophia Odunlami, Prophet/Pastor Odusona, Prophet Isaiah Sakpo Joseph, among others.
