The Government of Anambra state has confirmed that the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has gone into self-isolation.
Briefing journalists on Monday, on the confirmation, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, said the Governor has been in self-quarantine since 11 days ago and has not shown any sign of the disease.
“The governor was at the NEC meeting on Thursday, and you know how the sitting arrangement is, after the Anambra State governor, you get the Bauchi State governor, who has announced his status recently.
“But if you are aware of the sitting arrangement during the meeting, you will find out that they usually observe social distancing. That you are in a hall with a man who has the disease does not mean that you can be infected.
“The governor is a very enlightened person, and because he knows he has been in a meeting with such Calibre of people, he decided to go into self-quarantine.
“Obiano is on self-isolation. I have not seen him for the past week, and we only talk on the phone. We had two hours meeting yesterday (Sunday) using zoom. There are no fears about his health at all,” the officials said.
They also appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to donate to the state government to keep fighting the virus.
Meanwhile, the Traditional ruler of Umunya HRH, Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje has commended Gov Willie Obiano for his prompt intervention in providing stimulus package to cushion the effects of the pandemic disease.
The commendation was coming as Governor announced the distribution of bags of rice to the elderly individuals who are 70 years and above.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that Governor Obiano announced the distribution of 200 bags of rice each to the 179 communities that constitute the state, making it a total of 35,800 bags.
The Monarch, made the commendation while speaking to newsmen at his palace, Umunya, Oyi Local Governments Area of the state.
“He urged every individual who is at the bracket years of 70 and above to contact their president generals to do the needful”
