AN Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Wednesday, ordered that a 22-year-old man, Charles Ndubuisi, who allegedly defiled a nine-year-old girl be remanded in prison, pending legal advice.
The police charged Ndubuisi, whose address was not provided, with indecent assault.

Chief Magistrate F.A. Azeez, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered the police to send the case file to the office of the State Directorate of Public Prosecution(DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 15, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. John Iberedem told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in June, at Ogunwemoju Street; Kokoro Abu area of Ikorodu, at about 6: 50 p.m.
Iberedem said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
NAN reports that the defendant is liable to life imprisonment if found guilty.
