Chairman of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Dr Olusola Akinbode, has unveiled plans to boost agriculture and food production, as registration for Empowerment of Cocoa Dapo Seedlings, Cashew Dapo Seedlings and Palm Oil Dapo Seedlings to farmers has commenced so as to promote people’s livelihood in the local government area.
The chairman disclosed that the registration had commenced on December 10, 2024 and will end on January 31, saying this will enhance proper planning ahead of the distribution programme scheduled for a later date as the rainy season approaches.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune in his office at the local government secretariat, Ayetoro, Dr Akinbode said that this will complement Adire Dapo Kampala training in which over 1,000 inhabitants of the local government benefited in tandem with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ISEYA mantra on poverty alleviation programme across the state.
He expressed readiness to leverage on the state government’s support to make the council food basket of the state, in fulfilment of his campaign promise to reduce poverty and unemployment to the barest minimum, just as he enjoined the people to use the opportunity of the registration exercise so as to benefit from the cash crop seedlings’ distribution.
