The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) will host the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, who would be presenting 2025 economic outlook at its 59th Annual Bankers’ Dinner, scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024.

The event, which begins at 6PM, will take place at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and will feature a hybrid format combining physical attendance with virtual participation via Zoom and YouTube.

Renowned as a flagship socio-economic event for the banking and finance industry, the Annual Bankers’ Dinner provides a platform for critical discourse.

This year, Mr. Cardoso, as the Special Guest of Honour, will deliver a keynote address, reflecting on the economic realities of 2024 while outlining the monetary policy and regulatory agenda for 2025.

Distinguished guests expected at the event include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Olawale Edun; and Dr. Ibrahim Stevens, Governor of the Central Bank of Sierra Leone. Several other state governors, industry leaders, and global dignitaries will also attend.

This year’s edition promises to be particularly memorable. Under the leadership of Mrs. Yemisi Edun, Managing Director/CEO of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Chair of the Organizing Committee, the Dinner will introduce several new initiatives.

Among the highlights will be the conferment of the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of the Institute on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Finance Minister Olawale Edun, and CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso.

Additionally, awards will be presented to individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional commitment to the values and ideals of the banking industry.

CIBN President and Chairman of Council, Prof. Pius Deji Olanrewaju, Ph.D., will serve as Chief Host, while CIBN Registrar/CEO, Mr. Akin Morakinyo, will host the event.

As the premier networking event for Nigeria’s banking and finance sector, the Dinner will attract an array of influential figures, including industry leaders, policymakers, diplomats, academics, and business executives.

Notable attendees will include Dr. Tony Elumelu, Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings; Mr. Bello Hassan, Managing Director/CEO of the NDIC; ambassadors; CBN deputy governors and directors; and CEOs of major banks and financial institutions.

This exclusive gathering offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders to engage, exchange ideas, and foster relationships in a convivial setting, reinforcing the pivotal role of the banking and finance industry in shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
