Kenneth Malaka, the founder of Analogue Shifts, has revealed how his tech recruitment firm is revolutionising the global talent landscape, with a connection at a time.
Speaking on the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey in an exclusive interview with Tribune Online, Malaka said: “During my time as Chief Operations Officer at Ajolla, a Canadian tech firm, I managed everything from recruitment to project management in Nigeria. That’s when I noticed a critical gap in the market,” he explains. “International companies were actively seeking remote talent but lacked efficient channels to connect with them. This wasn’t just a business opportunity—it was a chance to transform lives.”
The early days of Analogue Shifts came with valuable lessons, he said transcends from challenge to triumph. “We learned the hard way,” Malaka admitted, “There were initial placements where companies would circumvent our process, directly hiring candidates without compensation for our services. But these challenges shaped our current success.”
The turning point came with their first paying client—a partnership that would catalyze the company’s growth. “This client didn’t just validate our business model; they became our biggest advocate, leading to more than 30 new client relationships. Sometimes, you just need one person to believe in your vision,” Malaka shared.
According to him, “In just three years, Analogue Shifts has facilitated over 1,000 successful placements, maintained an impressive 80% placement success rate; established partnerships with industry leaders including Mustard Insights, Data Fellows, and Vroom and built a strong presence in DevOps, Software Engineering, and Data Analysis.
“Today, Analogue Shifts operates across multiple continents, with 80% of their client base in the United States and the remainder spread across Canada, UK, Germany, and Nigeria. Plans are underway to establish physical branches in the US and UK to streamline hiring processes.”
While narrating his success story, Malaka noted: “One evening, I received a message from our US-based Partner who had just lost his job. By pure serendipity, I had just spoken with another recruiter seeking someone with his exact skill set. Within days, what could have been months of job searching became a perfect match. These moments remind us why we do this work.
“Analogue Shifts isn’t just connecting talent—they’re creating it. The company has successfully conducted four comprehensive DevOps training programs and is now setting its sights on the future. “We’re partnering with top AI specialists in the US to develop training programs for both Nigerian and international participants,” Malaka reveals. “The tech landscape is evolving, and we’re ensuring our talent pool evolves with it.”
He, therefore, noted that what sets Analogue Shifts apart is their holistic approach. “We don’t just place talent; we often manage the entire project lifecycle,” Malaka explains. “This comprehensive service has led to our high success rate and strong client retention.”
While highlighting Analogue Shifts’ plan for expansion, he addressed the future of tech recruitment, holding that the recruitment is transcending to a time-based and trust-building approach.
“We’re establishing physical branches in the US and UK to ensure seamless hiring processes. But more than that, we’re building bridges between talent and opportunity on a global scale.
“The future of tech recruitment isn’t just about matching skills to jobs,” Malaka concludes. “It’s about understanding timing, building trust, and most importantly, showing people as much love as possible. We’re not just a recruitment agency—we’re partners in technological and professional transformation.”
“For companies seeking to tap into global tech talent or professionals looking for their next opportunity, Analogue Shifts can be reached at [email protected],” he added.
