THE Management of Breeze FM 99.9 Lafia, has filed a suit at the High Court 4 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, against the Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura for illegally demolishing the radio station.
The Attorney of the station Ocha Ulegede who briefed newsmen on Tuesday, shortly after filing the case at the court said, it has filed for special damages of N18 million and general damages of N1.5 million.
According to him, the suit also seeks the court to declare the governor’s actions as illegal, unconstitutional and order the government to tender an open apology to the station.
“Our prayers are that the court should declare the action of the governor illegal, unconstitutional, highhanded, tender open apology and pay monetary damages of about N2 billion,” he said.
He said, it has also prayed that the court should issue an injunction stopping the government from further destroying the remaining structures within the vicinity of the station.
He explained that no part of Nasarawa State has been designated as commercial or private area, hence, the excuse of the government does not hold water.
He said the government carried out the demolition for political reasons adding that the governor is acting on rumours that the owner of the station Nawani Aboki is running for the senate which is not going down well with the governor.
