The station Dandal Kura Radio which already exists in maiduguri recently started a joint broadcast at the Headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Njamena Chadian capital.
Welcoming guests at the event was the Commander of MNJTF, Major General Lucky Irabor, commended those that made the establishment of Dandal Kura Radio possible adding that “the voice of peace is louder than the voice of violence”.
He further stated that Radio Dandal Kura will help to promote peace adding that the objective of the radio is to work with the MNJTF to achieve more.
Gen Irabor also expressed gratitude to the strategic partners for their support stressing that violence does not recognise race, tribe, colour or even boundaries.
He warned that if the entire region does not work as a team to rout the menace of Boko Haram, of course every one of them will be a victim.
The event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Executive Secretary Engr Sanusi and Lawro Gondje, representing the President of the High Council of Communication in Chad.
Founder of the radio, Dr David Smith, acknowledged friends and partners from Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), MNJTF and the Centre for Coordination and Liaison (CCL).
His words: “For the first time in the history of radio in Africa and in the World, there is Kanuri and Kanembu voices on FM and Short Wave covering the entire Lake Chad Region.”
He expressed gratitude to the Managing Director of Dandal Kura Radio Maiduguri, Faruk Dalhatu and his team for the achievements in ensuring that this radio comes to fruition.
Executive Secretary/Head of Mission LCBC, Engr Sanusi Abdullahi announced that another milestone in the collective efforts of our governments to address challenges in the Lake Chad Basin in the form of Dandal kura Radio has been achieved.
He added that the facility was meant to communicate to the populace and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) with a view to making them surrender and Commence deradicalisation using qualified experts in the domain of sensitisation and counter propaganda to address their issues.
Lawro Gondje, who represented the President of the High Council of Communication, Ndjamena, acknowledged the initiator of the radio and the partners adding that the radio is a tool and an object for the fight against insurgency by the LCBC countries.
According to him, it will comes to at a point in time when our nations come together to fight boko haram, maintaining that Dandal Kura Radio was an instrument for the education and the development of young generations in the rich lake Chad region.
