He stated this in his sermon at the 50th anniversary thanksgiving service of the Fountain of Hope Society (1NH) o St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Molete, Ibadan, with the theme: Possessing your Possessions, held last Sunday.
He congratulated the members of the society on the anniversary, and urged them to always keep the faith in their actions to preach the message of Christ.
Founded in 1968, the Fountain of Hope Society of St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Molete, has three main objectives: Foster the progress of the Christian community, cooperate with other church organisations and individuals on matters affecting or relating to Christianity, and further the interests of the Christian faith as the society may from time to time deem expedient.
Meanwhile, the Golden Jubilee held an honours and awards ceremony for distinguished individuals from different walks of life.
At the event held recently in Ibadan, President of Fountain of the Society, Wale Awojebe, said, “We want to honour past presidents, who were not honoured during the 40th anniversary celebrations; to honour post-humous our immediate past president, Bro Wole Banjo, some of our friends and brother who are well known in the society as being used by God to use their God-given endowments to foster and propagate the work of God.”
Also speaking, the vice president, Olaitan Owolabi, said: “We have some achievements over the past 50 years that are worth celebrating. We want to recognise those who have given us the impetus to stay afloat.”
Some of those who received awards included, the society’s patron and matron: Justice Owolabi Sonoiki and Mama Victoria Iluyomade; clerics: The Most Rev Joseph Akinfenwa and Rt Rev Rufus Okeremi; foundation members: Bro Abiodun Oyeneye, Bro Akinninola Akinyera, Bro Michael Kazeem, Bro Emmanuel Omisakin, Bro Olatunde Fanoiki and Bro J Adesanya.
The society also recognised what it termed “great beacons of the society,” including Professor Toyin Ashiru, Chief Bayo Akande, Chief Wale Jolaoso, among others.
Awojebe said the society, which was created to promote Christian virtues and values, had lasted five decades due to the brotherly love and support that exists among its members.
