Biola Adebayo faces backlash over interview with Baba Ijesha

Nollywood actress and podcaster, Biola Adebayo, has come under fire on social media after featuring convicted actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, on her show, ‘Talk To B’.

The interview has gone viral, prompting reactions from Nigerians who questioned why the actor was given a platform after his conviction for sexual offences involving a minor. 

During the conversation, Baba Ijesha said the incident that led to his conviction was a “setup”, adding that he was misunderstood. 

He also claimed parts of the situation were linked to “movie preparation,” which has drawn criticism online.

He further spoke about his past relationship with Iyabo Ojo, saying she once trusted him with the care of her children, Festus and Priscilla, when they were younger. Ojo has since disputed this claim, warning him not to involve her children and threatening legal action if he continues.

The interview has triggered reactions across platforms, especially on X, where users criticised both the actor and the host.

Commenting on the development, an X user, Big Uncle & @Usmanashafe said,  “Baba Ijesha was CAUGHT ON CAMERA molesting an underage girl I mean…. It wasn’t like they lied against him, he was CAUGHT And now Biola Adebayo just gave him a platform. What if the young girl was Biola’s daughter??? I think Biola has totally LOST IT”

Reacting to the trend, Adedoyin @SexyDoyin1 opined that, “Baba ljesha must think everyone is as foolish as him. What has lyabo leaving Priscy and her brother in your care some years back got to prove? @Biola on the other hand, i don’t blame. Shebi na una dey see everyone with mic ” a philanthropist.”

To Big Uncle & @Usmanashafe, “Biola Adebayo will rather cry to gaslight people than to actually admit her wrong and apologize.”

@Ayomide_koya also faulted the actress for bringing Baba Ijesha on her show, re-echoing the question asked by Big Uncle.

 “If the young girl he defiled was her daughter, would she have wanted to hear his side of story,” she asked.
