The Theatre Commander of ‘Operation Restore Peace,’ in the South-South, Moses Ambakina Jitoboh, has charged officers and men of the Delta State Police Command to be proactive and never fold their hands and allow miscreants to attack them.
Jitoboh, a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), gave the charge during a three-hour power-packed lecture for officers and men that held at the command’s headquarters in Asaba on Thursday.
In a statement signed and issued by the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, DIG Jitoboh was said to have urged the personnel to end the wanton killings of policemen and the destruction of their formations.
“On 3/6/21 at about 1130 hours, the Deputy Inspector General of Police department of research and planning, who is also the theatre commander operation restore peace, South-South zone visited the command.
“Officers present to welcome the DIG includes the AIG Zone 5 head Qtrs Benin City AIG ISAAC AKINMOYEDE fdc, the Commissioner of Police Delta state command CP Ari MUHAMMED ALI FCIA, PSC+, Officers and men of the command.
“He had an emotional and soul-searching lecture with officers and men of the command.
“The slogan ‘NEVER AGAIN’ was echoed by all officers and was, indeed, a big morale booster of the men, which signals an end to the killings of police officers and burning down of police facilities and public properties,” the statement read in part.
DSP Edafe further quoted that DIG as saying that he was at the command following the directive of IGP Usman Alkali Baba to “all DIG’S of the various geopolitical zones to go round their zones and boost the morale of the men, which happens to be his main reason for the visit to the command.”
DIP Jitoboh, Edafe disclosed, “advised officers to be proactive, beware of their environment at all times. Never again should they fold their hands and allow miscreants to come and attack them.”
According to the acting police spokesman, he assured the command that “all modalities have been put in place to ensure that the welfare of the police is improved and that the IGP is determined to see those police officers in the country are motivated.”
Edafe also reported the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, as extending seized the command’s gratitude to IGP Alkali Usman Baba “who deemed it necessary to deploy personnel to the command during this present predicament through Operation Restore Peace.
“He said the men deployed have, in no small way, added to the security architecture of the state.”
