Members of the Bauchi State branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) have elected a new Executive Council and pledged to uphold professionalism and mentor young engineers to advance the engineering profession in the state.

The newly elected Chairman of the society, Engr. Shehu Wakili, made the pledge in an interview with journalists on Saturday shortly after the results of the election were announced at the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the NSE.

Wakili described his emergence as a call to service and pledged to provide inclusive, transparent and purposeful leadership.

According to him, “This mandate is a call to service and I am deeply honoured. I pledge to provide inclusive, transparent, and purposeful leadership that will uphold the ethics of our profession and advance the objectives of NSE.”

He added, “Together, we will focus on professional development, engineering excellence, advocacy, and community impact in Bauchi State. I cannot do this alone. I count on your cooperation, ideas, and commitment as we build a stronger Branch.”

Wakili said the new leadership would work to expand the society’s membership and mentor young engineers.

He said, “We will try and strive to make the society move forward. We have so many agenda to achieve, we want to increase our membership by so many activities and we want to carry our young ones and mentor them as and when due.”

He also urged the newly elected council members to work together for the progress of the society.

“I want to call on all of us that were elected to work hard for the progress of this society in general,” he said.

The newly elected officers include Engr. Aliyu Ibrahim Adamu, Vice Chairman; Engr. Adamu Umar Chinade, General Secretary; Engr. Musa Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary; and Engr. Lumi Jonathan, Technical Secretary.

Others are Engr. Salim Ibrahim Yelwa, Deputy Technical Secretary; Engr. Suleman Muhammad, Treasurer; and Engr. Aliyu Yakubu, Financial Secretary.

Engr. Jawahir Mohammed and Engr. Hadi Ibrahim will serve as Ex-Officio members, alongside the immediate past Chairman of the society, Engr. Abdulkarim Hassan.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected council, Wakili expressed gratitude to God and members of the society for finding them worthy of service.

He promised that the new leadership would serve the society to the best of its abilities.
