The Bauchi State House of Assembly has launched an investigation into the expenditure of over N1 billion on child nutrition, despite a rise in malnourished children in the state.
The assembly’s decision was made during a 2-day advocacy and sensitisation meeting, where members expressed concern over the lack of improvement in child nutrition despite almost 100% release of funds in previous years.
Speaker Abubakar Y Suleiman described the situation as “worrisome” and directed the House Committee on Food and Nutrition to conduct an investigation to identify the root cause of the problem.
The assembly’s move is aimed at addressing the alarming rate of malnutrition among children in Bauchi State.
