The officers were said to have been ambushed by unknown gunmen in Okene, Okene local government area of Kogi state on Friday during a stop and search operation.
The names of the deceased officers were given as Onwumere Nicholas, Peter Ebun and Abdulrahman Musa.
It was gathered that the hoodlums attacked the NDLEA officers at about 8.30 pm on Friday around the main gate of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Okene
The deceased along with three others, who were lucky to escape the attack were said to be on duty when the incident occurred.
Eyewitness account explained that the three surviving officers escaped unhurt.
The hoodlums were said to have ran away with two rifle guns belonging to the officers that were killed.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi state commandant of NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Bello, said three of his men felled to the guns of hoodlums in Okene, while on patrol on Friday evening.
Bello added that NDLEA together with other security agencies in the state have put all necessary plans in motion to arrest the perpetrators.
