Niger State Police Command has announced the killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), two other police officers and four members of a vigilante group during a gun duel between security personnel and gunmen suspected to be terrorists at Nasko village on Tuesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated this in a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Minna, adding that “on 15/03/2022 at about 1300hrs, armed bandits/terrorists invaded Nasko village, Magama Local Government Area of the State.”
The statement added that the police operatives, with vigilante members were immediately mobilised by DPO Nasko and they engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle during which some the hoodlums were neutralised and others escaped with gunshot injuries.

It however stated that during the gun battle, the DPO, two other policemen and four vigilante members lost their lives.
DSP Abiodun noted that “the Area Commander, Kotangora, Area Command of the State Police Command immediately drafted reinforcement with the military personnel to the area to forestall the breakdown of law and order.”
Meanwhile, “the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has condoled with the bereaved families while reassuring members of the public that the command will not relent in its effort to curb banditry in the state.
