The latest attack was coming barely one week after 14 miners were killed at Janruwa in old Birnin Gwari town.
Eyewitness disclosed that the bandits stormed the village around 2:30 pm, and started shooting at the villagers thereby killing 27 people including children.

‘ Most of those killed were volunteers that tried to defend the village and children that could not escape the onslaught”.
He said there could more casualties as the bandits have set several houses ablaze, saying, most of the villagers have deserted the village.
Another source alleged that the local vigilantes were in Gwaska together with the military as around seven o’clock in the evening but the commander asked the soldiers to retreat because of darkness.
