The joint security operatives raided the Gerio enclave, known by many as “Adamawa Sambisa,” on Saturday and have flushed out the unrepentant, refused-to-surrender Shilla gangs.
The operation has been codenamed “fresh air” against insecurity, which was said to have started at about 4 pm, followed the expiration of dateline given by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, for the Shilla gangs to repent and surrender themselves out of their Gerio enclave or face the declared security muscle.
“The not to be surrendered Shilla members, hypnotised by, failed to realise that Adamawa isn’t any longer under fascist regime to be allowed to degenerate into anarchy.
“Previously, whenever Shilla members were arrested for criminality, having the backing of influential politicians closed to the governor, they would always be on bail with their criminal cases never to be revisited. Now is a fresh air against the Shilla gangsterism,” an elder resident in Yola north would tell the Periscope reporter.

The joint security squad was said to have comprised of the military, police, NDLEA, CIV, SARS, traffic warden and vigilante, trooped to the Shilla enclave for a flush out operation, which lasted conservatively three hours.
“Scores of the notorious Shilla gangs were arrested. They could be paraded before the newsmen anytime soon,” one of the security men who participated in the raid said.
“Fintiri’s declared state of emergency on security, owing to political will, is truly yielding a positive result.
“We commend the security operatives in the state. The security only needs to be supported by life rather promising governor and the encouragement of the public for insecurity to remain a history,” a resident of Ajiya ward in Yola north said.
The Adamawa Police Command Public relation officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Ngoroje has confirmed the arrest and told Nigeria Tribune that 21 of the arrested Shiila Boys were charged to court and will set free those not found guilty.
