The Ogun State Government has constituted an 11-member administrative body to oversee the management of various administrative and traditional responsibilities during the transition period until a new Awujale of Ijebuland is installed.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Hamzat said the constitution of the administrative body aligns with the existing historical and traditional governance structure of Ijebu Ode.

The members are: Chief Sunny Kuku as Chairman; Chief Lekan Osifeso as Secretary; and Chief Stephen Oluwalogbon, Chief Olu Okuboyejo, Chief Funmilola Okunowo, Professor Jide Ajayi, Chief Tunde Odulaja, Chief Abimbola Okenla, Chief Agboola Alausa, Chief (Mrs) Adebisi Oshibogun, and Chief Adebisi Adaran as members.

The Commissioner reiterated that the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun is committed to ensuring stability, continuity, and respect for the cherished traditions of Ijebu Ode during the transition period.

He added that the government is urging sons and daughters of Ijebuland, both at home and in the diaspora, to extend their support to the constituted administrative body.

Hamzat emphasized that this call for support is necessary because the cooperation of all stakeholders is crucial in safeguarding the peace, harmony, and unity for which Ijebuland is known.

The statement reads: “The people are further urged to remain law-abiding, peaceful, and supportive of the ongoing process, as the government remains resolute in its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and the preservation of our cultural heritage.”
