A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Ondo Vanguard For Good Governance, has requested the leadership of the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the party’s alleged non-compliance with the electoral guidelines in the forthcoming governorship primaries in the state.
The group, in a statement issued and signed by its Coordinator, Evangelist Tade Ojo, said the concerns raised by the group became necessary to ensure the validity of the primary election of the party.
The group expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged non-compliance in the implementation of the guidelines of the National Secretariat of the party in the conduct of Congress elections that would produce the delegates required to ratify the outcome of the party’s primary, scheduled for April 20, 2024.
Ojo criticized the manner in which the Congress Committee allegedly handled the exercise, stating that the Committee did not attend the venues of the Congress across the state and arbitrarily allocated figures.
He stated, “It is pertinent that the leadership of the APC in Ondo State and nationally, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, address these concerns before they lead to avoidable crises in the party and the state.”
Ojo further explained the group’s concerns about the alleged manipulation of the process, including the use of different result sheets and the disregard for party members who bought expression of intent forms to contest as delegates.
The Director of Information for Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s Campaign Organization, Kayode Fasua, responded, stating that the process for the conduct of the primary election in the state was clear, and any areas needing clarification should be addressed with the party. He emphasized their readiness for the primary election.
