AHEAD of its primary for Anambra state governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has generated more than sixty million Naira from the sales of the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
Tribune Online checks that each of the twelve aspirants seeking the party ticket for the November 18 election paid the sum of N5.5 million (five million and five hundred thousands)
According to Tribune Online investigation, the aspirants include, the immediate past National Auditor of the party, Chief George Mohgalu, Senator Andy Uba, Sir Paul Chukwu, Barrister Nonso Madu, Prince Don Okonkwo, Dr Chike Obidigbo and Engr Johnbosco. Others were Engineer Bart Nwibe, Dr Nwike, Adaobi Kalu Uchegbu and Dr Tony Nwoye.
Addressing the aspirants on Wednesday, the party national chairman, Odigie Oyegun assured them of a level playing field in the conduct of primary slated for August 19, 2017.
“We have called for this meeting to have an interactive section with you (aspirants) because we do hear a lot of things and any doubt or anything that you think we haven’t done right, this is an opportunity to pin point them out and we will see what we can do.
“But I assure you that there shall be a truly fair, free and credible primaries. So, that is the whole purpose of this meeting.”
The party also inaugurated a seven-member screening committee for the Party’s aspirants vying for the Anambra governorship seat, to be chaired by the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.
