Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, paid tribute to the late Iyalode of Yoruba land, Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson, on Friday, saying her contributions to national growth were indelible.
The late Alaba Lawson died on October 8, 2023, aged 72, and would be buried today in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Iba Adams said this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Kehinde Aderemi, describing the demise of Chief Lawson as a great loss to Yorubaland.
The Yoruba generalissimo maintained that the late Lawson was a heroine who played a key role in all the facets of human endeavours, saying that the late Iyalode of Yoruba land died when her services to the country were needed most.
He, however, prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
“She was a great woman who believed in promoting the worthy cause of the Yoruba race. Her life was a true reflection of what we do as culture ambassadors, and she was one of the few people who believed in a worthy cause.
The legacies she left behind as a devoted mother, philanthropist, educationist, humanitarian, politician, and Christian cannot be ignored.
“The late Alaba Lawson died when we needed her most, and we pray to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Iba Adams said.
