Akeredolu stated this in Akure, Ondo state capital, during the official commissioning of building projects by the Ondo state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said the synergy that existed between the security agencies responsible for the existing peace in the state.
Akeredolu who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, said that the collaboration among security agencies in the state was worthy of emulation saying all the security have formed a formidable forces in combating and stemming down the crime rate in the state. .
He said “security agencies in the state have been working hand in hand to ensure peace of the land, we call for more synergy among these agencies to ensure development of our state, development exists in a peaceful atmosphere and we will always be ready to support them to eradicate crime in the state ”
Speaking during the inauguration of the building, Commandant-General of NSCDC, Mr. Abdullahi Muhammadu, called for Federal government support in funding the NSCDC to enable it perform effectively in tackling security challenges in the country.
Apart from this, he called for the supply of modern equipment to help the Corps combat crime effectively across the country especially in the protection of critical infrastructure.
He said, “I wish to particularly appreciate the His Excellency, for his tremendous supports and assistance to the corps and for providing enabling environment to enhance operational efficiency.
“However, I will appeal for further assistance, especially in the area of capacity building and manpower development as well as provision of logistics and modern equipment to further enhance our capacity to effectively deliver our mandate and tackle the present security challenges confronting us as a nation. ”
Muhammadu, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Commandant-General, Mr. Kelechi Madu, commended the people of Ondo State for supporting the command to enable it made some achievements in the state.
The state commandant of the corps, Mr Adeyinka Ayinla disclosed that the building project was funded by the people and corporates bodies in the state, saying it shows the mutual relationship between the Command and the people of the state. .
He however assured that the command would not relent in fighting crimes and criminal in the state to ensure safety and security of lives and properties.
