Ahmadiyya lays foundation for new clinic in Kano

THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria has commenced the building of another clinic in Kano to ensure improved health care services for the people of Kano State.

The foundation laying ceremony was performed in Kano last weekend by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Alatoye and the Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, who represented the state governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.

Once the new clinic is completed, Kano State will have three medical facilities and two schools from the Ahmadiyya Muslim community for the overall benefit of the populace, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Alatoye, said.

According to him, the foundation stone of the first Ahmadiyya clinic, which has been upgraded to Ahmadiyya Hospital, Kano, was laid by the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, on 28 December, 1968.

Alatoye reiterated that the essence of understanding Islam from the perspective of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was based on service to humanity in all ramifications.

He said: “The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that Allah sent the Holy Prophet Muhammad as a mercy unto mankind. Therefore, in addition to upholding the five pillars of Islam and six articles of faith, a Muslim’s preoccupation is to be mercy unto mankind by making life easier for the people, to serve Allah in an atmosphere of peace.

“Accordingly, the Jama’at has a non-governmental organisation called Humanity First, whose preoccupation includes global health for all by building hospitals and clinics and knowledge for all by building schools.”

He noted that Humanity First, courtesy of the present Medical Director of Ahmadiyya Hospital, Kano, had extended free treatments to thousands of people through its “Gift of Sight” scheme.

He said similarly, through the Principal of Ahmadiyya College, Kano, Humanity First had sunk many boreholes in the suburbs of the Kano metropolis to provide drinkable water to the dwellers.

Alhaji Alatoye equally said that the founder of Ahmadiyya laid emphasis of Islam as a religion of peace, hence the current Khalifa , spiritual head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community globally, was preoccupied with how the world would achieve global peace and had made several tours before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nigeria, he said, was one of the countries on the list before the outbreak, hence the visit was halted.

His key message during the tours, according to him, was how the world would embrace justice and peace “and he has written many books on this.”

The Amir attributed the realisation of sustainable development through the provision of hospital equipped with ultramodern facilities, unique primary and secondary schools and now a new clinic in Kano alone to the cordial relationship among the palace, Kano State at large and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at.

The Emir of Kano and the Kano State government expressed appreciation to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria for its gestures.

Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, described Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital, Kano, as one of the foremost institutions that have helped in improving the health indices of Kano people through provision of quality health care services for over 50 years.

Dr Tsanyawa said the project would further improve healthcare delivery in the state.

He also appreciated the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for the long-existing cordial relationship between the hospital and the government as well as the people of Kano.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, commended the effort of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital in supporting the health system in the state.
