Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho-Metro on Saturday decorated Mr Afolabi Salisu as its new president.
Salisu will run the affairs of the club for the next one year.
The investiture, which was held at Jogor Centre, saw Rotarians from across the country witnessing the event.
The new president also inducted the club’s new board members and raised some funds to carry out some projects, including the resuscitation of four baby incubators at Oni and Sons Children’s Hospital, Ibadan, donation of textbooks and writing materials to selected schools, quiz competition among selected primary and secondary school students, eye medical outreach in conjunction with the ophthalmology department, University College Hospital (UCH) for 50 people, skill acquisition training in fashion illustration, public speaking, art and craft among others.
In his acceptance speech, Salisu said Rotary is meant to serve humanity which he is committed to doing during his tenure.
He said “What are the things we need to do? We need to go all out to serve humanity with all our three Ts and that is our treasure, time and talents. I can assure you we are going to do meaningful and impactful projects.
“It might not be so expensive but I can assure you it’s going to be impactful.
“Like when we talk about medical outreach, it’s going to be a high one as we want to identify minimum of 30 cataract patients who we will support to have surgery.
“This is something that I cannot do alone, I know my club members, there is love among us and I’m saying this to reach out to them once again that I need them to join me and my executive to do whatever we want to do for this magical year and I can assure you, we are going to do the magic and we are going to perform the magic this year,” he said.
