The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Hamza Isa, 39, a resident of Bauchi Street, Yola North Local Government Area, for allegedly trafficking young girls from Adamawa State to Lagos and onward to Ghana for purported sexual exploitation.
Isa, who confessed to acting as a transporter within a larger trafficking network, said he collaborated with two women, known as Happy and Elizabeth, who supplied the victims.
“My role is moving the girls from Yola to Lagos before transferring them to another trafficker who takes them to Ghana,” he claimed.
He further stated that he did not have a direct contact with the woman in Lagos who facilitates the final leg of the journey.
Isa said he earned ₦50,000 for each girl transported, with victims aged between 14 and 30 years, explaining that he returned to trafficking after losing his job and vehicles, adding that he is a father of three and would never wish such a fate on his own daughter.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, noting that officers acted following a tip-off from parents of two girls being moved out of the state.
He claimed that the girls were intercepted on their way to Lagos.
