Human rights activist, Kola Are, has stressed the need for collaboration between the South West Development Commission and the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria to fast-track the socio-economic growth of the region.
He submitted that this collaboration has become imperative for the region to take its rightful place, as experienced in the ’60s and ’70s.
Are stated that rather than fanning the embers of discord, it is high time for stakeholders to come together to ensure a successful take-off of the Commission.
According to him, the Commission would be of immense benefit to the overall development of the region.
Are, who remains a leading figure in the struggle for the self-determination of Oduduwa land, said that rather than fanning the embers of discord, this is the time for the people in the region to unite by ensuring the economic growth of the region.

He added that the efforts of the likes of Senator Gbenga Daniel need to be commended in ensuring that the region is given due recognition in the scheme of things.
According to him, “instead of undermining the work of the Senator representing Ogun East District in the person of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, I believe he deserves commendation as a first timer in doing this for Yoruba land as a whole by looking beyond the present into the future.
“He did the same as a governor by giving an enabling environment to investors by giving tax holiday then…now being reaped bountifully today as an investment hub with multiplying taxation effects that Ogun State is benefitting currently.
“Southwest stakeholders should stand in stead and midwife a smooth integration or collaboration between SWDC and DAWN Commission so that the region can benefit maximally from DAWN Commission’s age-long technocratic researches that had been on ground before, which need a bite.”
