Olori Kudirat Adetunji, the senior wife of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, is dead.

The Olori, who got married to Oba Adetunji 53 years ago, died on Thursday morning at the age of 71.

Meanwhile, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has expressed shock and disbelief at the passing away of Olori Adetunji, describing the death as a big loss to the Olubadan and the entire indigenes of Ibadan.

Ajimobi’s commiseration contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr Yomi Layinka, further held that the demise of Olori Kudirat was unfortunate and disheartening.

The statement read, “I am greatly saddened by the passing away of Olori Kudirat. It is very unfortunate and disheartening, especially because we were still together with Kabiyesi and the royal retinue at the Chief of Army Staff conference, held in Ibadan, last week.

“The incident is a big loss, not only to the Olubadan but also, to the entire people of the ancient city.”

“Her death is indeed a big loss, not only to our father, the Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji but also, to the entire people of Ibadanland. May the Almighty grant Kabiyesi, Mama’s children and loved ones the fortitude to bear this great loss.

“I enjoin the good people of Oyo State to join me in praying for the repose of her gentle soul and may Allah grant her the highest place in Jannah.”
