Ahead of the forthcoming party primaries, a healthcare professional and unionist, Nurse Ishaku Yakubu, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Zonkwa Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of his people.

The declaration, which was held on Friday at the Local Government party office in Zonkwa, drew party stakeholders, supporters, and community members.

The gathering was marked by endorsements and strategic guidance from party leaders in Zonkwa Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, the APC Chairman of the area, Markus Steve Bahago, granted the campaign team approval to mobilize support across all communities within the constituency.

He urged the aspirant and his team to conduct their campaign in line with acceptable political standards, emphasizing discipline and grassroots engagement.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the campaign organization, George Yahaya, reaffirmed the team’s commitment to building a strong and inclusive movement capable of delivering victory at the polls.

In his address, the aspirant, Comrade Ishaku Yakubu, said his decision to join the race was driven by persistent calls from constituents and professional bodies, particularly healthcare groups, who believe in his capacity to represent their interests effectively.

He added that if given the party’s ticket, he is confident of overwhelming support from healthcare professionals, noting that his background as a unionist positions him to effectively advocate for the needs of the people.

The aspirant pledged to promote unity across the constituency and work towards enacting laws that would directly impact the lives of the people, particularly in areas of healthcare, social welfare, and community development.

Comrade Yakubu, who currently serves as the Kaduna State Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, highlighted his track record of service and leadership within the healthcare sector as a solid foundation for effective representation.

Earlier, the APC Ward Chairman of Gidan Jatau Ward, Titus Kazah, formally presented the aspirant, describing him as a credible and capable candidate with a deep understanding of the needs of the people.

The event signals the beginning of what observers say could be a competitive race for the Zonkwa Constituency seat, as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle.
