The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, Princess Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, on Tuesday held a strategic engagement meeting with members and leaders of the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) from Akure North and Akure South Local Government Areas at the group’s national secretariat in Akure.

The meeting, attended by key stakeholders, coordinators and grassroots mobilisers, provided an opportunity to discuss strategies for strengthening the progressive movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, while receiving the candidate and her entourage, described Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole as a committed progressive with the experience, capacity and passion to provide quality representation for the people of Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency.

He assured her of the group’s continued support and commitment to the ideals of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In her remarks, Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole thanked the leadership and members of AMG for their commitment to the party, saying the strength of the APC lies in its grassroots structures and dedicated members. She added that meaningful representation can only be achieved through continuous engagement with the people.

She outlined her vision for inclusive representation, youth and women empowerment, community development and effective legislative engagement, assuring members that she would remain accessible and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the constituency.

The APC candidate also sought the support of the group in her bid to represent Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

She commended AMG for its grassroots mobilisation and community development efforts across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, particularly in Akure North and Akure South. She expressed confidence that the goodwill generated by the group’s initiatives would translate into strong support for the APC in the 2027 general elections, adding that she believes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure a wide margin of victory in Ondo State.

Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole paid tribute to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, describing him as a source of pride for Ondo State whose leadership and commitment to human capital development have positively impacted many lives.

She recalled that the minister provided her with financial and moral support during the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency by-election following the death of the late Hon. Isaac Adedayo Omolafe. According to her, the support reflected his commitment to developing people rather than pursuing personal political interests.

She added that her admiration for the minister is rooted in gratitude and conviction, urging party members to support him because of his leadership qualities and long-term commitment to the growth of the APC and the development of Ondo State.

The APC candidate stressed the need for unity among all APC support groups, saying that despite operating on different platforms, they remain members of one political family.

She reaffirmed her commitment to the party’s goal of delivering one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and urged members to work together to achieve the target.

Princess Olatunji-Ohwovoriole also sought AMG’s support for her aspiration, noting that after 27 years, Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency has a unique opportunity to elect a woman to represent it in the House of Representatives.

She pledged to continue conducting her campaign with decency, inclusiveness and unwavering loyalty to the APC.

Responding, the Director-General of AMG, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the group was established in March 2024 to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He said the group was initiated and sponsored by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, with the aim of attracting members of opposition parties to the APC while strengthening the party’s existing structures through grassroots mobilisation and community development.

Asagunla assured the APC candidate of the group’s full support and expressed confidence in her chances at the polls. He added that beyond political mobilisation, AMG has continued to address the needs of people at the grassroots through various interventions.

He further disclosed that the minister also initiated Ondo Connect, a community development initiative established to identify and address infrastructure deficits in underserved communities across the state.

According to him, the initiative has rehabilitated dilapidated infrastructure and provided transformers, solar-powered street lights and bridges in communities such as Igoba, Aule and Oke Aro, among other interventions aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.

The meeting ended with members reaffirming their commitment to mobilising grassroots support for Princess Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the overall success of the APC in the 2027 general elections. They also pledged to work towards securing victory for the party at all levels.
