The senatorial aspiration of the chief of staff to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Omoleye received a major boost at the weekend as ward chairmen in Ado Local Government Area of the state endorsed his ambition to represent the Central senatorial district.
Also, All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders including the House of Assembly members from Ijero Local Government Area threw their weight behind the ambition of Omoleye to represent the district in the red chamber.
During the meeting attended by all the chairmen of the 13 wards in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital in the residence of one of them, Kayode Oladimeji, they described the Chief of staff as an experienced politician who has contributed in no small measure to the development of the party over the years and would offer quality representation to the people.
Moving the motion for the adoption, Mr Sunday Aladeokin from Ipoti Ward B, described the chief of staff as an experienced politician who has been consistent with the progressive ideology since his foray into politics. He maintained that Omoleye’s political sagacity has helped in holding the party’s firm in Ijero local government.
The convener of the stakeholders’ meeting, Benson Olusola said the meeting was in response to the declaration letter written by Omoleye which was distributed to all the APC leaders across Ekiti central senatorial district comprises of Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Efon and Ijero local government areas.
Addressing the party stakeholders comprising of leaders, elders, local government executives, eard executives, women and youths, Omoleye said, ” Charity begins at home, I come today to inform you that by God’s grace and with your support, that I want to contest for Ekiti Central Senatorial Seat in 2023. I promise I will not disappoint you and I will not betray you.”
Omoleye who encouraged members of the party to mobilize aggressively for the success of APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, stressed that “the continuity agenda of the progressive party is what can make Ekiti State develop.”
