Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum has launched a comprehensive development initiative aimed at empowering youths, supporting teachers, and boosting the local economy in northern Borno.
Speaking in Damasak town, Mobbar Local Government Area, during his visit with the Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation, Barr. Bello Koronyo, Zulum said the initiative was part of his administration’s commitment to empowering young people, supporting teachers, and boosting the local economy.
Zulum inspected rice farms initiated by his government to provide a sustainable source of income for local farmers and create jobs for many unemployed youths in the state.
He also enrolled 150 youths in a digital literacy training program and provided dedicated teachers in remote areas with newly commissioned quarters.
He inspected the ongoing construction of 45 classrooms, which will provide a conducive learning environment for thousands of students in Northern Borno upon completion.
Zulum supervised the distribution of wrappers and N10,000 each to 4,200 vulnerable female beneficiaries as a palliative measure, explaining that the multi-faceted initiative demonstrates his government’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens and its dedication to creating a better future for all.
The community has welcomed Governor Zulum’s efforts, which are seen as a significant step towards rebuilding the state after years of insurgency.
The Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation, Bello Koronyo said the federal government will complement the effort of the Borno government in job creation through farming, which will ensure food security for the nation.
He also commended Zulum for initiating developmental programs for the benefit of the people.
“Your initiative offers hope for a brighter future and demonstrates the administration’s dedication to driving development and progress in Borno State,” Koronyo said.
