THE Zamfara Government on Wednesday said it had established 251 feeding centres for Ramadan feeding across the state.
The acting Chairman of the Government Ramadan Feeding Committee, Alhaji Adamu Dankwangila, disclosed this after inspecting some of the centres in Gusau.
Dankwangila, the Special Adviser to the state governor on Agricultural Comprehensive Revolution Programme, said that out of the 251 centres, 200 were in Gusau metropolis, while the remaining 51 centres were in the 13 local government areas of the state.
He said “the centres were established to assist people of the state, especially the less privileged, orphans, disabled persons and the needy.
“The feeding programme was aimed at reducing the sufferings of the people, especially in the holy month of Ramadan. About 200 people break their fast at each of the 251 centres on a daily basis.
“More than 600 people were employed for the programme across the state, including 251 women vendors who cook the food, 125 distributors, 125 supervisors and other ad hoc workers under the state government committee and those under the ministry for religious affairs.”
The chairman urged members of the committees to ensure justice and fairness while discharging their duties.
He appealed to Muslims to use the period of the Ramadan fast to offer special prayers for the quick recovery of President Muhammad Buhari, promote peace and stability in the country.
