The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a former Sharia court registrar Abubakar Garba Dandare to High Court ll Gusau, Zamfara state for breach of trust and forgery in the state.
The former registrar of upper Shari’a court l Samaru Gusau in Zamfara state, was arraigned today Wednesday for misappropriation of N3,837,634.46( three million,eight hundred and thirty seven thousand,six hundred and thirty four naira,forty six kobo) as retention fee paid to late ladan Mada and was entrusted to him.
In a charge letter number ZMJ/GS/13C/2024, Abubakar Garba Dandare as defendant dishonestly misappropriated the money entrusted to him to his personal use thereby committed an offence of criminal breach of trust contrary to section 311 of the penal code CAP 89 laws of northern Nigeria 1963 and punishable under section 312 of the same law.
Also, Abubakar Garba Dandare forged the signature of one Aminu ladan Mada with intent to part with the sum of N3,837,634,46 being retention fee tor the family of late Ladan mada, thereby committed an offence of forgery contrary to section 363 of the penal code CAP 89 laws of northern Nigeria 1963 and punishable under section 364 of the same law.
When the case came up today Wednesday, the High court judge, Justice Bello Mohammed Shinkafi after hearing from both complainant and defendant counsels Peter Attah and Barrister Bello Umar respectively adjourned the sitting to 6th of June to allow written address from the complainant.
The judge further granted bail to Abubakar Garba Dandare (defendant) with condition to bring two surety who are resident of the state with N5m , submit their passport and two GSM numbers to the registrar of the court.
