Matawalle, Zamfara governor
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has said his administration is making efforts to increase the internally Generated Revenue (IGR) so that it would implement the N30,000 minimum wage.
He made this known while speaking at this year’s workers day celebration in Gusau on Saturday.
Also, he said some of the measured the state government is considering is creating the enabling environment to attract investment.
Others included the implementation of the Public Procurement Policy as well as the decentralization of payment of salaries.
The governor also said the introduction of Treasury Single Account (TSA) to block all leakages is being considered.
“I appreciate the cordial relationship existing between the government and the Nigerian Labour Union, and all its affiliates. But I still urge you to continue with your support in the measures put in place, which are aimed at improving the welfare of our workforce and the general public.
“Despite competing demands from other quarters, my administration will continue to provide the required employment opportunities to our people through the civil service and pay the desired attention to the welfare of civil servants in consideration of the critical role they play in the implementation of government’s policies and programmes.
“We will continue to explore new alternatives that will augment the current accruals to the State from the federation account.
“This will enable us to sustainably implement the N30,000 minimum wage across the board and implement other development imperatives for our state.
