Why we must read books

In life we need to be equipped for success and one of such equipments is books. Books are indispensable tools to facilitate the success and effectiveness of anybody especially leaders.

Books when properly read, dissected and applied will provide great advantages. Books are a great source of knowledge. When a man lacks knowledge he becomes disabled to succeed and gets sentenced to a life of struggle.  Success never answers to ignorance. To be successful one must be A leader must be a knowledgeable person in his chosen field.

When we give the necessary attention to reading we will acquire knowledge and understanding. Most of the knowledge we will need can be discovered hidden in one book or the other. When we read we will have answers to the issues involved in making us succeed.

One critical assignment we will have if we will become leaders and make our lives count is to solve problems, answers questions and proffer solutions to problems and one veritable way to getting this done is by reading books. Reading the right book with the right mind has a way of enlightening the mind. It illuminates the mind to see light at the end of every tunnel.

When we read with the right disposition our thinking faculties get activated and engaged. Reading a book is a mental exercise that should make us think- ask why, how come, etc.

When we read books we will be mentally agile and will be able to easily think through issues. Reading books open us up to new ideas, concept and ways of doing things.

The books we read feed our mind and our mind provides content for our speech. When our mind is fertile with the right content our speech will be worth listening to.

Our level of expertise is linked to what we learn and reading is a great way to learn. Self improvement is another advantage we get through reading.

The major means human beings communicate with each other is through words and each group of people have a set of words that guide and govern their verbal communication. Every group has a list of words they use in their day-to-day transactions and interactions. This list of words constitute the vocabulary of the group.

Lawyers have their vocabulary, doctors have theirs…. Every group has its own. We must understand the vocabulary of the group and environment we operate in. A practitioner in the medical field must understand medical language and a lawyer cannot be communicating legal arguments in medical language. A person with limited vocabulary will be limited. There are many languages in the world and they all mean something to someone” 1 Corinthians 14:10 The Message.

Reading books is a veritable tool to help improve and enhance our vocabulary.It is commonly said that leaders are readers but the question is the leader must know what to read.
