…says Tinubu deserves second term

Nollywood actress Keji Yusuf has explained why many Nigerians are still facing hardship despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance.

Speaking during an interview, the actress said Tinubu deserves a second term because of the reforms and policies he has introduced since assuming office.

According to her, the President has taken bold decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidy, tax reforms and the recovery of funds and assets allegedly controlled by a few individuals in the past.

“By the special grace of God, Tinubu would be re-elected. I am calling God to witness because I see what Tinubu is doing. He is a performer,” she said.

Keji Yusuf also dismissed the chances of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, insisting they cannot achieve what Tinubu is currently doing in government.

She added, “Peter Obi and Atiku can’t win. What Tinubu is doing, Peter Obi and Atiku can’t do it. Who is Peter Obi? Forget it. Who is Atiku or who else is there? You don’t know Tinubu.”

Keji Yusuf further defended the administration’s economic reforms, saying the president stopped the alleged diversion of public funds linked to the fuel subsidy regime.

“See the tax, subsidy and all he has done with money. Recovering all seized assets. All the money and proceeds from the subsidy were being shared by three or eight people; the trillions; he collected it all, and they were angry,” she stated.

The interviewer, however, challenged her position, noting that many Nigerians are yet to feel the impact of the recovered funds and government policies, amid complaints of hunger, poor electricity supply and economic hardship.

Responding, the actress blamed those responsible for implementing government policies at the grassroots level.

“Tinubu is dishing out the orders, but those meant to execute them and distribute them are not doing a good job,” she said.

“See the local government chairmen; they are not doing what they are meant to do for the citizens. The majority of them are performing, though, but not all of them.”

According to her, many of the benefits meant for ordinary Nigerians fail to reach the grassroots because of poor implementation by public officials.

“All they were asked to do for the citizens don’t reach the grassroots. Tinubu has given the orders, he isn’t coming to execute them himself. He is doing his job,” she added.

The actress also maintained that her support for the President was not influenced by personal gain from the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“I haven’t eaten the proceeds from APC, but the truth should still be told when it is seen,” she said.
