An educationist, Dr. Kazeem Akande, has outlined the reasons for the necessity of introducing a new education policy in Nigeria.
The educationist explained that the policy is essential to enhance the state of education in Nigeria by introducing a new education policy in schools.
He added that, in order to achieve this, the government should consider hiring the services of retired teachers who are still actively interested in teaching core subjects in senior secondary school classes within secondary schools.
Akande made these remarks during an interview with journalists at his graduation ceremony, which took place on a Thursday following a one-month short course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Jos, Plateau State. Akande graduated alongside other prominent Nigerians from the institute, which specializes in policy strategy and leadership in Nigeria.
According to Akande, this event was organized with the aim of gaining a comprehensive understanding of all education policies and providing participants with the opportunity to introduce their own proposed policies.
The educationist, who is the founder of Easy Prevarsity University, intends to propose a policy for the recruitment of retired teachers who are passionate and willing to teach core subjects in schools, as a means to enhance the secondary school education system.
Akande revealed that the purpose of attending the course was to introduce this policy, emphasizing that it will contribute to the improvement of the educational system in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He stated, “If given the opportunity to attend the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 46, scheduled to be held at the institute in February, I will officially present the formulation, implementation strategies, monitoring, and evaluation of the policy.”
Furthermore, the educationist, who is also a philanthropist, mentioned that in addition to introducing a new policy into the education system, he intends to voluntarily organize training sessions for local government councilors on peace, policy, strategy, and leadership. This training is designed to enhance the leadership skills of local government employees.
