Management of Rize 106.7FM, Warri, Delta State, has appealed for support from members of the public and organisations to bring the station back to its feet after the inferno of Thursday.

Recall that the radio station was gutted by fire at the wee hours of Thursday leading to the destruction of the entire storey building harbouring the broadcast equipment.

Head of Station, Laju Iwala, in a statement made available to journalists late Thursday, said properties worth N250 million were destroyed in the inferno.

“This is to officially make known to the general public, especially clients and listeners of Rize 106.7 FM Warri, that the station was gutted by fire in the early hours of today.

“The inferno razed down the entire top floor of the building housing all three studios of the organization, the transmitting room, all broadcasting equipment, the news and current affairs department, all computer system and other major offices and property of the organization estimated at over N250m.

“Management, however, use this opportunity to appreciate men of the Delta State Fire Service and Shell Fire Service as well as friends of the station that responded to distress calls and worked collectively to put the fire off.

“While management is putting all efforts in place to get the station back on air, we also appeal for support from members of the public and organisations to support us in all possible ways to enable us to continue to blaze the trail of positivity,” Awala pleaded.

He further appealed to clients specifically and listeners generally exercise patience with the management at these challenging times, saying “this challenge will only be for a short time – we shall bounce back stronger and better.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State, on Thursday, while confirming the incident, had said the inferno was triggered by an electrical spark.
