University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State and four other universities have been shortlisted to showcase their talents in an upcoming DecaHack Pitch event.
The co-founder of ICP Hub Sahara, Adedayo Adebajo, in a statement made available to Tribune Online on Sunday, said the event is aimed at showcasing innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration and over 30 outstanding startups from 6 universities across four states in Nigeria.
The event which is billed to hold on 26th March 2024, according to the statement started with 11 universities across 9 states of the federation.
The statement read in part, ‘The Deca Hack initiative launched four months ago, has been a resounding success, engaging universities, tech enthusiasts, and aspiring entrepreneurs in a journey of learning, ideation, and creation.
“Through a dynamic combination of tours, virtual boot camps, and mini-hackathons, DecaHack has empowered participants to develop cutting-edge solutions on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), driving forward the boundaries of technological innovation in West Africa.”
He listed other universities that participated in the event including the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Federal University Gusau, Zamfara state, Federal University of Technology (FUT Minna), Federal University Lokoja, University of Jos (UniJos), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Kwara State University (KWASU) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).
“From these institutions, outstanding startups from six universities across four states have emerged, representing the vibrant spirit of innovation in Niger state, Osun state, Ogun state, and Kwara state,” Adebajo said. “These Universities Include Covenant University (CU), Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Kwara State University (KWASU), Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), University of Ilorin and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
“The DecaHack Pitch event will be a unique opportunity for government agencies, venture capitalists, angel investors, tech companies, incubators, accelerators, and other stakeholders to witness the unveiling of groundbreaking solutions and connect with the brightest minds in West Africa’s tech ecosystem.”
