UNILEVER Nigeria Plc in its unaudited interim report for the twelve months period ended 31st December 2023 has recorded turnover of N97.4 billion in the period under review which represents 51 percent topline growth compared to N64.6 billion Turnover recorded in the corresponding period in 2022.
The company also recorded a gross profit of N29.8 billion for the period ended 31st December 2023 which is 13 percent increase as against N26.3 billion reported for same period 2022.
Net profit for the total business grew 91 percent to N8.5 billion for the period ended 31st December 2023 compared to the N4.5bn net profit from the corresponding period in 2022.
Net profit from ongoing operations, adjusting for portfolio changes made in 2023, grew 106 percent to N12.3 billion for the period ended 31st December 2023 compared to the like-for-like portfolio net profit of N6.0 billion for the corresponding period in 2022.
Managing Director, Tim Kleinebenne, noted that “These positive results show Unilever Nigeria remains focused on the delivery of competitive, consistent, profitable, and responsible growth.Unilever Nigeria made great progress in 2023 through operational efficiency, cost optimization, the right portfolio of purposeful brands and increasing market share across key categories.

Meanwhile, the company has notified The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) and the Investing public that by a Resolution of the Board of Directors of Unilever Nigeria PLC at its Board meeting held on January 18 2024 the Board considered and approved the resignation of Mr Jaime Aguilera as Non-Executive Director effective January 17, 2024.
The Board of Directors expressed gratitude to Mr Aguilera for his outstanding contributions leading to significant development and setting Unilever Nigeria Plc on a path to sustainable and profitable growth.
On the recommendation of the Governance, Remuneration and Risk Management Committee of the Board of Unilever Nigeria PLC, the Board also considered and approved the appointments of the following to the Board with effect from 18 January 2024:
Mr. Langat is responsible for Unilever’s operations in East and West Africa and joined Unilever from Friesland Campina on January 1st this year. He started his career at Unilever and has previously held several positions working across different regions in Africa including Kenya, Malawi, and Ghana. He moved to Coca Cola Nigeria, where he was subsequently appointed Managing Director before he joined Friesland Campina where he was appointed to lead their Sub-Saharan Africa operations. Mr. Langat is Kenyan.
Mr. Emenyonu assumed the role of Procurement Director for West Africa at Unilever Nigeria Plc in 2019. He brings extensive experience in strategic procurement leadership and was Head of Procurement at Lafarge Africa PLC, and Head of Procurement for Africa at PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc prior to joining Unilever.
